- 1 one-pond bag of pinto beans
- 4 slices of thick bacon
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
Rinse beans in cool water. Pour into large pot, cover with water by two-three inches, slice bacon and throw into pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and add cover. Simmer for two hours or until beans are tender. Add additional water to the beans as needed. Toward the end of cooking time add salt and pepper for taste.
